The First Nexus 310 in Japan

Blog PictureI was once told that I would never see any "bubbling beads" ( a reference to K1 media) in Japan and therefore I would consider today quite significant in that the first Nexus 310 filter was deilvered and installed in Yamakoshi.

Many people will be aware that there is an original Nexus 300 at Miyaishi's old premises but as far as I have been able to find out it was never put to use.

This Nexus 310 delivered today is already up and running on Shintaro's Number 1 Tategoi ponds !

Saito san has made several visits abroad and seen the Nexus in operation at many ponds including those housing some of his koi.  Therefore he has been able to see how his koi have developed and has mentioned in the past he was impressed.

In October we were discussing filtration in Japan, and we got into discussing the Nexus.  Saito san mentioned that he thought it was a very good filter and would like one, but it wasnt available in Japan.  That was soon sorted and shipment was arranged to arrive during my visit this time.

He was like a kid at christmas and couldnt wait to get it up and running, as he wants to trial being able to feed his highest class tategoi more heavily.  We soon had it set up, albeit temporary as bit of pipework is needed to make things tidier, and we left the K1 and Biochips soaking in Pottasium Permanganate while we went and had lunch.

Having given it an hour or so the Nexus was then drained and refilled before being put into action on the pond.

Its interesting how many other breeders have been interested in the filter this week, as I have brought a few magazines for them and they have been looking at the advertisements.  They all seem to think it is far better than any of the filters available in Japan especially the bubble bead styles.

I'll be keeping in touch with Saito san to find out his views !
