Vodafone have announced that Japan will be removed their Passport service as from the end of June 2009

As many UK Vodafone users will be aware, the free Vodafone Passport service offered a very low cost way to make and receive calls whilst in Japan. 

However we received notification today that Japan will no longer be included in the list of countries where the service can be used as from the end of June, which is a huge disappointment.

We are currently not aware of any other network operator who offers a similar service, and will be devoting some time to looking for alternative options.
