2010 Trip Dates: 25th March 2010 - 11th April 2010  FULLY BOOKED !!!

We have now confirmed our dates and the trip is already fully booked already.  Its incredible how much interest we are now getting in our trips so for anyone looking to join us in October / November we recommend getting in contact soon.

We will arrive in Japan on 25th March and after spending a few days in Nagaoka will be travelling South to visit a few breeders on route to Kyushu for the AJNPA Young Koi Show (or Wakagoi Show) which is taking place on 3rd and 4th April 2010.

After this we will be travelling straight back to Niigata prefecture after the show where we will be based in Nagaoka, visiting the breeders in the nearby surrounding areas such as Yamakoshi, Ojiya etc for the following week, before travelling back to Narita on the evening of 11th April.

Joining us for the second week will be Gene Winstead from Koi Village in America along with some of his guests.  Not only will Gene be selecting many stocks for himself but I know he already has a list of special koi he will be seeking for customers in the USA, which should be exciting and put our abilities to the test.  If anyone in America is looking for a special koi, why not contact Gene and get him to keep an eye out during the visit.

About Japan in Springtime

Spring is a very relaxing time to visit.  Often there are still traces of snow on the ground despite the weather usually being sunny and warm.  As the snow recedes the colour quickly returns to the mountains making for some amzing scenic views.

During early to mid April the cheery blossoms (sakura) are in full bloom, providing some wonderful sights, especially along many river areas where the trees are planted along either side.

There tends to be less visitors in the area and dealers who make the trip generally do so for a much shorter period.  Unlike the Autumn harvest period there are no harvests to dictate when the koi are available and all will be in the koi houses on display.

During this time the breeders are making their final tosai selections, deciding between tategoi and tateshita, and it is at this time that the very best will be available for sale.
 return to the mountainside.

The All Japan Young Koi (Wakagoi) show is also held at this time of the year, and being one of the top 4 shows in Japan is well worth a visit.  For exact dates please refer to our events calendar.

For visitors at this time of year we recommend a mixture of clothing.  The days can be reasonably warm however the nights are still quite chilly, and as always rain can be expected at any time.
